Refinished
hutch put into
service.
It looks
kinda orange
here, but it
really is
"poppy"
Like a dark
fuchsia.







With the snow outside we decided to do a few things around the house.

It is time to get the back up heater installed, rather reinstalled since it
was in the wrong place (ie, someone did not listen to where I wanted it).
All is good now.














AND........even though the walls are not finished we installed the light over the
stairwell. I love it.














When you are on a pay as you go system, things go a bit slow. BUT, the room is useable
and this is a good thing as quilts are getting quilted with the longarm home. YAAAAA

New Life for a Hutch

Sometimes furniture gets abused, in this case this cute little hutch was used to store tools and paint in a shop. It is still solid enough to save from the dump. So with a little sanding and painting. Now mind you I do not usually paint wood, but this was a good candidate.















Here are a few pictures after the crackle finish was applied. It needs to set for about a week before putting on the finish coat of clear poly.















the big crack in the top isn't as noticeable and works fine with the aged look.

The hutch top looks great and loved again.














and one of the doors. Once it is coated and knobs are reinstalled, I will post a picture of it all together.

Atop the kitchen cabinets

We have high ceiling in the kitchen and I could not see any reason to waste the space, so I had Kirk add some extra cabinets with glass doors on top of the regular cabinets. Still have a nice space on top for decorations.

This is the setting for Christmas. I was lucky to find garland with lights at our local ACE for $5.00 each (and of course I should have bought more, duh). This picture is dark so please click on it for a better look.














Some close ups. You will see one of my birdhouses (Kirk made them, I painted them). On the right is a pedestal dish my mom gave me, I put some acrylic grapes over the edge. Red cranberry like berries and white lights along the garland.

On the other side of the cabinets, a red star, acrylic rain deer, more of the cranberry berries, gold garland. This was taken before I added, red and white stripe, plaid and polka dot bows.














This is the other birdhouse and a ceramic birdhouse that my friend Cathy gave me a few years ago.

Yes, you are seeing a
tin wall. That is the same
material we have on the
outside of the house.
We built the shop
first and then added the
house on the side, so
that wall is the outside
wall to the shop, now the
inside wall for the kitchen,
bathroom and livingroom.


Why spend the money to build another wall. The tin fit perfectly into our cabin plan.
