Pink Saturday

Welcome to Pink Saturday. I have to tell you being a part of this blog party has been so much fun.

This week I wanted to share with you a very special set of dishes. These belonged to my husbands grandmother. My MIL was going to give them away because no one in the family wanted them. Well you can see that did not happen, because I could not let that happen. Plus my daughter Samantha @ Three men and a Lady wants then when the time comes to pass them along again. WaHoo.

When we were designing the kitchen, instead of just the average height of cabinets I had Kirk add an extra layer of cabinets with glass doors for all my pretties. This is the perfect place to feature Grandma's dishes. Just below are my everyday dishes in the rack. It sure is nice having a cabinet maker in the house.

Here are some close ups for you. The pink glasses and cups did not come with the dishes, but are perfect with them (DMIL gave me the pink glasses and cups, I know, I am pretty lucky).

A set of blue glasses would go beautifully with this set, too, don't you just love the colors and design.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing Grandma's dishes.

A special thank you to Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound for hosting Pink Saturday. To see more wonderful Pink click on her link, and get a cuppa, and get ready for a wonderful tour of amazing blogs.

Pink Saturday Post

WAHOO, it is Pink Saturday

I love Pink Saturday, it is so much fun to go around and see how everyone is using their Pink.

I am a quilter and have been sewing since I was 13....and....that has been a long, long time.

What is one of the main stays of a person that sews??

Pin cushions, after all one has to have a place to safely store all those pins and needles, to keep them up off the floor (hopefully) and out of feet. Not just any ole pin cushion will do though, and as with all things one needs more then one.

My Pink pincushions

Now for a closer look at each one, if you'd like. First is a sweet cupcake pincushion. I am sorry to say I don't remember the name of the lady who made this sweet pincushion.

This darling chair pincushion was made for me by my friend Jill Phillips. Isn't it pretty? She also made the fancy pins it holds. Remember you can click any picture for a closer look.

This pincushion box was made for me by Kerry Leslie, she has a blog here. Check out the details in the following pictures.

My GF, Candi made this one for me. If you will refer to the first picture you will see it closed, then it opens to reveal great pockets for all your sewing needs and a pincushion and needle book. Candi's blog is here. Candi is also a new Pink Saturday poster. She makes these for folks so if you need a great gift for a sewer, ask her about it.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed my Pink pincushions. I am sending Pink wishes to everyone for a blessed Pink Saturday.

I want to thank our hostesses Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound for making
Pink Saturday happen. Please follow the link to see more (over 100) PS sites.

Until next week. God Bless.

Pink Saturday - Valentines Day

It is Pink Saturday again. (Ok, I am posting this on Friday night, I don't know how to use the scheduler and I want the early birds to be able to see my post.) I had so much fun last week visiting all of (well about a 3rd of the 168 blogs) blogs participating in PS. What fun and wonderful blogs. To find all of the blogs sharing a bit of pink please follow this link How Sweet the Sound you will find a list of blogs for you to visit.

My post of Pink this week includes a bit of Valentines Day.

Now as you look at my things remember I am a Rustic decorator who also combines country and cottage.........Rustic-Country-Cottage. That is my style and to be honest I do not get fancy for everyday, fancy is only for special occasions, so it does not happen often around here. But, I love to see beautiful decorating.

The place mats are the inspiration for this setting. These mats are easy to make with matching napkins. I took the colors from the place mat and thankfully had dishes to coordinate.

The plates are from Princess House

The glassware are gifts from my MIL, Letha and are vintage.

Once Valentine's Day is over you can turn the mat over for a spring look.

Thank you for stopping over, please leave a comment, I love getting comments. I will be making my rounds, too.
