Decorating the Tin Shack

Today we spent some time (all day) decorating
Our Tin Shack

This wall behind the wood stove have been unfinished cement
board for 5 1/2 years.  Just one of those
things we wanted to do but it was not on top
of the "list".
Today it got marked OFF the list.
We began at about 9:00 am

The Before
The product...
Laying out the first rows, trying to figure out how to
fit it all together.  Now mind you we  er/ Kirk is not a stone mason
so this has been a challenge....but we don't shy
away from a challenge.
The first rows are going up
Many of the stones needed "fitting"
Kirk is using his Grandfathers rock hammer to do the work.
The finished project.  After much frustration
a few stress releaving breaks.
We finished up at about 8 pm.
I will tell you this job is not for the faint at heart
Kirk did all of the installing, I chose most of the
"rocks".
Of course the "rocks" are really concrete and came in boxes
but after trying to collect real rocks we decided if
we ever wanted to get this done we should buy them.
Beside you need a "permit" to collect rocks

There are 3 little shelves in the wall also, to put treasures on.

Now I need to do something about that door
and the switch covers, but that is
for another day.

We are tired.  So I will call it a night.

God's Blessings to you and your family.

It looks fabulous, Gail! I knew you two would figure it all out, but I love seeing it finished, as I'm sure YOU do. Love the little shelves. Hope to see it in person someday.

Oh my goodness! I think it looks amazing! Y'all did a wonderful job. Who would have known you needed a permit to collect rocks! Sounds kinda silly to me!
I'm sure yalls arms and shoulders are pretty sore today. But the outcome was definitely worth it!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Gail, I am so glad you stopped by and left me a comment. I would not have wanted to miss your post. You and hubby did a great job on the wall and it's beautiful. I like the rocks you picked out and the selves too. After all the hard work, I am sure you have a lot of pride in what you did.
I hope you have a very happy Easter weekend.
It's hard for me to believe that it's illegal to find and pick up rocks. What's next? HA
Great job, Char

Really? A permit to collect rocks? That's the Government working at it's best for you! I lived in a house when I was younger that had the walls unfinished behind the stove like yours. You get used to it!
I think the bricks look wonderful and I bet you love them!
